First of all, measuring DC current with a clamp is a physics magic trick. We're lucky it works at all. To make the magic happen, the hall effect sensor in the clamp is so sensitive that it responds to nearby magnetic fields (including the earth).
To get an effective measurement you need to attach the clamp before the circuit is energized, hold it still and zero it. Then energize the circuit (without moving the meter) and you'll have success. I attached 3 images of this clamp versus a calibrated non-clamp meter. The pix show 3 readings: 0A, 100mA, and 1.6A.
Pros: Accurate, smaller than most clamp meters, easy to use, cheap!
Cons: Like most meters of this type, it can't measure current via the probes (except for tiny currents in uA mode)
Nitpicking Cons: Sideways display is hard to get used to, curved display lens encourages reflections, power button is software, not a hardware switch, so I expect the batteries will die if left in the drawer for a long time, frequency display won't work with logic-level signals. (There seems to be a minimum voltage.)
Overall: It works much better than it should, given the price.
